Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Fest?
A fest is an event where you have a certain amount of time to complete a story for a certain topic.
Our Fest is a 'prompt meme collection’, which means that this is a collection where participants submit/leave prompts for writers to claim/write in their work. What is a Prompt?
A prompt is a story idea you would like to see written. It can be a short summary, a trope or a few lines of dialogue. A prompt should contain DNWs ("do not wants" = things the prompter doesn't like to read) and DWs (= things the prompter likes to read)How can I submit a Prompt?
Once the prompting period starts you can submit your prompts on AO3 by clicking on "submit prompt" in the collection. You type in your prompt that, submit it, and then it can be claimed by a writer.
Afterwards, please fill out the prompting form, to let me know what should happen to your prompt if it doesn't get claimed. What is a Claim?
A claim is when you, as a writer, say "hey, I like this prompt (story idea) and I want to write it". If you claim a prompt, it's yours to write and you have until the end of the writing period to come up with a story that fits it.How do I claim a story for this fest?
For this round, only newly submitted prompts can be claimed. Please follow the instructions:
1) Wait for claiming period to be announced.
2) Read through the submitted prompts on AO3.
3) Found one you like? Claim it on AO3
4) Fill out the claiming form to confirm your claim
5) Yay!Why do I have to fill out the claiming form?
1) It makes it easier for me to find you if I need to contact you 2) It's a safety precaution in case anything happens and the collection or the prompt gets lost, you will always have the email as a backupWhat happens if I can't complete my fic?
The fest allows for WIPs to be posted for the submission. Don't worry if it's not finished, I still love you and want to showcase your work. Your first chapter/s should meet the required word count though. What is the required word count?
The required word count for this fest is 3k for one shots and 1.5k for WIPs, encouraging anything from short stories to novel-length fics to explore the ideas you have.I need extra time!!!
If you are already more or less done with your fic or you know you will be able to finish soon, fill out the extension form to get some extra time. Make sure you submit by the date and time stated on the form! (Longer extensions won't be possible, so please try to make it in time!)What happens if I can't write the fic at all?
Life happens. It just does and we all understand. If you need to drop out of the fest, please fill out the drop out form and then drop your claim on AO3.
Please don't vanish into thin air and ghost me.I'm ready! Where do I submit my fic?
1) Submit your fic on AO3 (click "fulfill claim" in your claims tab and then you can upload as usual). 2) Fill out the submission form. Why do I need to fill out the submission form?
1) It's easier for me to keep track of whose work is still missing 2) In case you have a moodboard to go with your fic, this is where you can upload itWill there be check ins?
I might send out a reminder at about a month before submission deadline, but there will not be a proper check-in where you have to fill out a form (because I personally dislike them with a passion). What time zone is this fest run on?
I live in mainland Europe with GMT+1 (6-9 hours ahead of the Americas depending on location and 7-8 hours behind KST).
For promtping, claiming and submissions, the deadline is 11pm KST, but I usually give people some leeway because I'm supremely bad at timezones. What are relationship dynamics and when are they crucial to the plot?
Dom/sub, top/bottom etc. etc. are relationship dynamics. If the plot works without them, they are not crucial to it.Why am I not allowed to write Y/N or crossovers?
Because the person behind this fest is allergic to one of the most prominent fandoms that crossovers might happen with and also severely allergic to Y/N. Sorry. Why do you not allow genderswapped or trans characters unless explicitely requested in the prompt? Are you a transphobe?
I am not a transphobe. But people who struggle with their gender identity might not be happy about having a trans or genderswapped character be written into a fic they requested. It can actually be triggering (yes, actually triggering, not just a squick, a trigger) and therefore I will not allow it in fic unless it was asked for by the prompter. What are hard kinks? Is there a list?
I think what is seen as "hard" is different for everybody. For me it's e.g. scat, vore, blood, urine and also mindbreak and ageplay but there are definitely things that I wouldn't even think about from the top of my head. Just imagine the mod of this fest as the most vanilla person you know. If in doubt, send a DM.
